The good news is that I have the source for OpenWrt compiling and flashing without issue, for the Octeon III 1.2 chipset..  It works just like Router mode and can be kept current with OpenWrt upstream, plus adding new packages as I see fit.  I had Snort3 installed for bit, and Suricata..

I know you don't have the Shield anymore, but suggestions will always be welcome in the Firmware thread!
