I had pulled a running.config from the box's running kernel.  I started to see about building an updated kernel and some other things.  Specifically, I built (from source) an updated snort build using the existing flags from the stock version.  I ran into memory issues (which I think I saw a thread about snort memory issues) but my ADHD kicked in and I've not revisited (or even plugged in) the box since that point.  I had forgotten all about it until your reply.

That being said, I'm currently pulling down Ubuntu 19.04 Desktop and have dug out a USB3 dock and a spare 500gb SSD and will see about setting things up to try and dick around with it again, if you're willing to work with me.  I've got backups of all the original files (including the .elf images) that came on the original kickstarter-ordered box.  I can work with Linux (and Google the rest), but the version on-chip Itus used isn't familar to me, structure wise.  I can't find a damn thing on that box.

But, I've got a console cable and time if you'd like to collaborate.  Or at least point me in the right direction.

I had looked into the codebase like OpenWRT because it already supports the chipset/CPU and figured it might be a good base to start from.  If we can get a stable, upgradable distro base, the rest can be pulled (like the admin web interface) and ported.  The fact things like PHP, Snort, etc can't be kept up to date makes me feel that the Shield might be more of a liability than an asset in it's current state.

Anyway, let me know.  I'll have the Ubuntu installed and ready to dual-boot.
