Hi, Roadrunnere42
I did the v7 script in bridge mode also have you left it about 10 minutes in bridge mode before trying to connect , do you mean waiting on Connecting the Ethernet cables until after 10 minutes After shield first powers up or Connecting the Ethernet cables and waiting 10 Minutes after the shield has powered up and then try using the Internet? have not tested router mode yet but it has work in the past I did apply Hotfix 160210 in router mode back on Feb 09, 2016 thanks for the help |

Hi Roadrunnere42 also someone suggested doing the following in this post would this work for my loss if internet traffic?
http://itus.accessinnov.com/Hotfix-160210-td8i40.html#a558 Go to /etc/itus_dns.txt and delete the CONTENTS (not the file) and add just this one line in the file and save: address=/example.org/10.9.8.112 Go to /etc/snort/rules/snort.rules and delete the CONTENTS (not the file) and save. Restart dnsmasq: /etc/init.d/dnsmasq restart Restart snort: /etc/init.d/snort restart Thanks |

Have you switched modes? Applying the hotfix in one mode won't make it carry over to the other.

According to your logs, your DNS isn't resolving. Try this: Go to Network>Interfaces>Lan>Advanced Settings>Use custom DNS servers and put in 208.67.222.222 then click the + and add the second one 208.67.220.220 then save and apply. I've seen it hang on the save and apply so if it does just reboot. Hopefully this will resolve it.
Also in your scheduled tasks delete the first one, you have duplicate entries.

I have been wondering where to change DNS severs in the Shield myself, so tried that. After doing that, no web site worked on the internet after 5 minutes. So I rebooted the shield, waited 5 minutes, still no web sites working. Waited another 10 minutes, no change.
So.... I removed the DNS settings and then did a save/apply and after 2 minutes, I had web sites again. Any idea why it didn't work? I do have a basic firewall between the Shield and Cable modem, double-nat. I am not sure if that would affect the DNS settings for the Shield. (per Security Now podcast recommendations, I have Cable Modem -> Basic Firewall. Then the Basic Firewall has the Shield under it with my PC's on it, and the Basic Firewall has a 2nd Basic firewall under it for my other non-PC devices that need internet access.) |
