Hi
I have just discovered a situation where the snort rules that get downloaded every night can have the same sid id but a different revision number, when this happens snort will fail and you will loose internet connection, this has just happened to me In earlier Fw_upgarde versions i checked for duplicate snort rules ie exact snort matches, but when the rule has different revision number the duplicate rule will not be filtered out , this latest version will remove the early snort revision so keeping the latest one. I would advise you to download this version to prevent loosing internet connection. I have corrected the date on the status>> overview which i used during testing but overlooked to take out before releasing. Instructions Copy all files over to the Shield and place in the folder called tmp , make sure they are name correctly as shown. fw_upgrade index.htm update_fw_upgrade8.2_files.sh .version also the file version has a . at the front, this is correct and just tells the Shield to hide the file from view. It just contain the version number to list just type ls -a once the files are copied across to the Shield and renamed if needed type cd /tmp sh ./update_fw_upgrade8_files.sh This will copy the files to the correct places. .version fw_upgrade.fw_upgrade index.htm update_fw_upgrade8.sh Not sure why when i upload the file, gets named twice fw_upgrade.fw_upgrade just rename as i said above. roadrunnere42 |
Hi, roadrunnere42 on .version file shows 8.2 in the contents is that part of the script?
Thanks |
breda
yes .version contains just 8.2 this is used to display the version number on the status --> overview page. you must have downloaded version 8.1 before updating to this version as i have left out some updated files that were done in version 8.1, just download version 8.1 as per instruction and run then download 8.2 and run, sorry about that but i forgot that some people may have not updated to version 8.1 of fw_upgrade script. roadrunnere42 |
Thanks Roadrunnere42 for the help just to confirm these are all the files for version 8.1 http://itus.accessinnov.com/Fw-upgrade-version-8-1-td771.html I believe you made a change to .fw_upgrade in 8.1 in that post just want to make sure I have all 8.1 files installed before update to 8.2

Hi Roadrunnere42 :)
Thank you for the update :) I really appreciate it :) Just to help people updating. There is a file name issue in the instructions(I think, I am new to this). The instructions state to change the download file name of: update_fw_upgrade8.sh to: update_fw_upgrade8.2_files.sh But the command to run the update is: sh ./update_fw_upgrade8_files.sh and so won't run as it does not match either of the names above. So change the downloaded file name of update_fw_upgrade8.sh to: update_fw_upgrade8.2_files.sh and then run the command: sh ./update_fw_upgrade8.2_files.sh Hope that makes sense :) rah |
Thanks rah do you have to hotfix installed before you update to version 8.2 ?
|
Hi breda :) I think I do have the hotfix and it was installed before. My version on the Shield status overview pages says: "Firmware Version v1.51 SP1 + Hotfix" rah |

Thanks for your work Roadrunnere42. I encountered the duplicate rule problem, so grabbed all your latest from git.
I'd like to turn on the new "Spyware" and "Redirector" filters you've enabled, but dnsmasq fails on those because the relevant files don't exist in /etc/itus/lists. What updates those lists? (fw_upgrade says the shallalist tar downloaded fine..)

Hi @Roadrunnere42
Is this fix included in your 8.3 fw _update? |

Did you figure your issue out? Let me give you a clue: fw_upgrade. version index update_fw_upgrade8.sh mv: can't rename 'fw_upgrade': No such file or directory mv: can't rename '.version': No such file or directory Look at the dots (.)..... |
