Managing hotfixes / bug fixes - software versioning / bug tracker?

hans2
For all the developers (fixes/new firmware) or those who want to contribute:

I've been away for a few days and noticed some recalls / updates of scripts. This is to be expected as we're starting to build a community and reverse engineering how (parts of) shield works. At the same time we need to make sure less experienced users can easily install updates.

I will make a new hotfix end of month (so April will be the next one).

I would like to know of the community what you all think about this. Should we use a software versioning platform (like SourceForge.net) to keep track of changes and bugs?
Any preference on which kind of platform is best to use?

Here are some possible options / review sites:

Do we need software versioning?

Why not GitHub? It is what I use pretty much everywhere, at work and personally.

I'm back

Github, gitlab, sourceforge - i don't care as I've never used either of them as developer.
For all of them I think it's best to have a few assigned developers and two or three admins.

I am leaning towards github ATM.
