LEDE Project - Spin-off from OpenWRT

Wisiwyg
All, while searching for some solutions to problems I've been having lately I ran across this: https://www.lede-project.org/index.html, the Linux Embeded Development Environment (LEDE).

They state that in May of 2016 they spun out of the OpenWRT project for a number of reasons. It appears that many/most of the OpenWRT developers have jumped ship to LEDE and that LEDE has the greater momentum. One of the several reasons stated were that patches simply weren't being reviewed and released in a timely manner, with one patch still sitting for 6 years waiting for incorporation.

Not sure if this worth the effort to look into this for Shield. I'm getting more and more disapointed with Shield for random reboots and have been looking at pfSense - which has its own warts. I note there is a build for octeon/generic in their buildbot download section if someone feels up for adventure.

Thanks for this! Hopefully it'll move along quicker now... I've posted questions over a year ago on OpenWRT forums and still no response.
I checked and Snort is still on 2.9.7.2 for our build on LEDE project, which is out of date. Hopefully we'll see an update to the current 2.9.8.3 or an easier way to build a package from source. Many bugs fixed that we don't have yet.
