Backup Shield 1.0 Firmware

ianarman
Hello,

I'm able to login to the Shield using WINSCP.

I'm looking to backup the v1.0 firmware before I upgrade to the community builds.

I'm wondering if I just need to copy the directories in /root/

Hi

I would mount the overlay folder and backup all files,  the new update sp1.51 has different version of this files which will cause problems if you decided to revert back.

not sure if version 1 had the same naming convention as sp 1.51

sp1.51 files

octboot2.bin
u-boot-octeon_rhino_itus7x.bin
itusxxxiamge

yes you can backup the shield

if you mount the folder overlay this will show you some files, just copy all of them off the shield. I have been using sp1.51 in beta and when released, and an very happy with it, they are a few hotfixes that you would what to install as these overcome some of the problems since Itus stopped trading.

One of the major problems with upgrading is that people don't let the shield fully upgrade before tiring to use, once you start the upgrade process go and have a tea and wait at least 10 minutes

Hans has done a load of work so people can upgrade from rc to sp1.51, here is what he posted

Guys,

i've updated the upgrade script to use a dropbox as file storage.

To use it for the first time you need to

1) Connect to shield CLI via serial terminal access or SSH (see page 12 of the AdminGuide how to activate Dropbear SSH Daemon)
2) Go to the tmp folder: cd /tmp
3) Download the upgrade script: curl -o /tmp/Upgrade_RC_to_SP1.sh http://itus.accessinnov.com/file/n10/Upgrade_RC_to_SP1.txt
4) Run the upgrade script: sh /tmp/Upgrade_RC_to_SP1.sh

and let it run until the end.

Make sure to copy&paste the command line instructions without changes!

cd /tmp
curl -o /tmp/Upgrade_RC_to_SP1.sh http://itus.accessinnov.com/file/n10/Upgrade_RC_to_SP1.txt
sh /tmp/Upgrade_RC_to_SP1.sh
